The way repeat prescriptions are being ordered is changing, from 30 June 2019 you will have to order your repeat prescriptions directly through the practice, and NOT through your high street or internet pharmacy or appliance contractor.
Being in charge of ordering your own repeat prescriptions ensures you only get the medicine you need at the time you need it. It can help prevent build up of unused or old medicines at home which improves safety and saves medicine waste and valuable NHS resources.
If you already order your repeat prescriptions directly through the practice, this change will not effect you. When you order your repeat prescription directly though the practice, your pharmacy will continue to collect or receive your prescription as before. Pharmacies may also continue to deliver your prescription if they offer this service.
When to order your repeat medicine
Order your repeat prescription when you have 10 days of medicine left. This will give the practice and your pharmacy time to process and prepare your prescription and ensure that you do not run out.
Repeat prescription requests can be:
- Requested online via the link at the top of this page if you have a SystmOnline account
- Via the NHS app if you have an account
- Dropped of at the surgery - we have a Letterbox at the main entrance.
- Posted to the surgery
For normal repeat prescription requests, please allow 48 hours for collection (please do not count Saturday or Sunday).
Please be aware items requested that are not on your repeat prescription list may take up to 72 hours.
Your prescription can be collected from reception once ready. Alternatively, if you provide us with a pharmacy nomination we can send your prescription electronically to your chosen pharmacy for you to collect this will save you time and a trip to the practice.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please Note: Not all reviews can be done over the telephone
